

MR. DENNIS WAYNE HARRIS was born in Gary, Indiana on June 05, 1946 to the Late Mitchell Joseph and Lura Bell Harris. Dennis attended Gary Pub-lic Schools and was a graduate of Gary Frobel High School. Dennis attended Ball State University briefly before volunteering for service in the Vietnam War. After he returned from active duty in Thailand, he resumed his studies and received his Baccalaureate Degree from IUPUl-lndiana University in 1975.
At an early age, Dennis professed a love of God and was an active member of First Baptist Church in Gary, Indiana as a child. Dennis later joined Saint Paul AME Church in 1975 after changing his residence to Indianapolis where he remained an active member until his illness.
Dennis worked in journalism as a photographer for WISH-TV and for Public Service Indiana during his early career. Later, Dennis worked for the State of Indiana for 23 years in the Department of Energy Policy as well as in Grants
Management as a Program Director. Dennis retired as a commissioned Major after 22 years of service in the Indiana National Guard. Dennis served his country during the Vietnam War and was stationed in Thailand.
Dennis was united in holy matrimony to Carla Ingle Harris on April 26, 1975 and was married for more than 44 years. To this union, two daughters were born: Tameka Renee Harris and Adrianne Michelle Harris.
Mr. Dennis Wayne Harris departed this life on January 25, 2020 at the age of 73 years, 7 months and 20 days. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mitchell Joseph Harris and Lura Bell Harris.
He leaves to cherish is memory; Wife: Carla, two daughters: Tameka and Adrianne, a brother: Wendell C. Harris, two granddaughters: Rachael Bianca Harris and Dezirae' lmani Harris, two grandsons: Austin Gregory Hill and Daniel Wayne Sims and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
