Dennis Allen Long

Dennis was born to Ralph and Helen Long on May 15, 1949 in Rockville, Indiana. On December 26, 1967 he married Deborah Kay Wolven in Indianapolis, Indiana. Three years later, in April 1970 Dennis and Deborah were blessed by their first child, Amy Patricia Long. Just two years after Amy’s arrival, in October of 1972, Allen Christopher Long was born and Dennis’ family was complete. Dennis served the United States Air Force from 1969 to 1973 as a mechanic. He was stationed on Royal Air Force Base Bentwaters, England. After the Air Force Dennis came home to Indiana, found a career, and cared for his family

Dennis A. Long is survived by his wife of 51 years Deborah K. Long, his two children; Amy P. (Bobby W.) Fuller and Allen C. (Dusty K. Morlan-Long) Long, brother; Bill Long, four grandchildren; Anthony W. (Amanda D.) Fuller, Joseph M. Fuller, Francesca D. Long and Christopher N. Long and one great-grandchild; Addison J. Fuller.

Visitation will be on Monday, December 3, 4-8 pm in Family Funeral Care. Funeral services will be Tuesday, December 4, at 11:00 am in Family Funeral Care. Burial will follow in Mount Pleasant Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the Leukemia / Lymphoma Society.

Dennis Allen Long died too early at the age of 69 but for those 69 years he pursued happiness. Surprisingly for a man who lived daily with pain he was full of joy. Dennis was not solely interested is his own happiness however. For him to truly be happy he must share that happiness with someone else. Dennis spent his days eating with friends, playing music, and teasing his beautiful wife. Dennis was happiest when he could provide for his family. He took great responsibility in making sure his family was cared for and comfortable. Dennis would employ his time, money, skills, or anything else he had to offer to help family in need. It was very important to Dennis not to just help, but to teach. He taught his children and grandchildren numerous practices from auto repair to electrical installation. No lesson was unimportant. Dennis had a wealth of knowledge and he shared it openly whenever he could. Dennis was a great leader and guide and will be sorely missed by his family.
