Dennis Roeder

Dennis was born on January 16, 1947, in Carmel, Indiana to Fred and Eileen Roeder. He graduated from Carmel High School in 1965. In February of 1966 he enlisted in the United States Air Force serving a year’s tour of duty during the Vietnam War.

After serving his country and getting married, Dennis enjoyed a variety of jobs such as repairing small engines, laying asphalt, customizing utility trucks and finally, enjoyed a 30-year career as an inventor and engineer, retiring from Alfa Laval in 2012.

From childhood, Dennis applied his inventive nature and desire to create toward his love of nature and music. He loved to fish, camp, and raise butterflies. He was quite accomplished at playing the guitar, banjo, harmonica and a hammered dulcimer, which he built.

He loved his family. He took every opportunity to spend time with them. He supported his children in their various endeavors like sports events and art exhibits. He was just as committed to his grandchildren, spending time wading in the creek, fishing, and swinging with them in the backyard. He also enjoyed giving them rides on his garden tractor when he cut the grass.

Dennis loved Jesus and had a quiet, strong faith in God.

Dennis was preceded in death by his parents Fred and Eileen (Hazelbaker) Roeder, his brother Bill Roeder and sister Carole White. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Judy Michael Roeder, his daughters Jessica Roeder of Greenfield and Kessa McNaught (Grant) two grandchildren Oliver McNaught, Hazel McNaught of Indianapolis, brother Doug Roeder (Martha) of Mitchell and sister Linda Simpson (Charlie) of Westfield and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be conducted by pastor Anthony Jones at Crown Hill Funeral Home - Gothic Chapel, 700 West 38th Street, Indianapolis. Visitation will be Saturday, December 14, from 11:00 AM to 1:00PM followed by a memorial service at 1:00 PM.
