(Claudia) Diane Arn Kennaugh passed away peacefully at home January 11, 2024. She was born December 28, 1936, in Portland, Indiana to John Arn and Claudia Buckmaster Arn. She graduated from Portland High School in 1954 and attended Hanover College. After raising nine children she studied and received her LPN degree from Tucker Career Center in Marion, Indiana in 1984.
She worked as a migrant outreach worker for the Grant County Migrant Center. She founded and was Co-Director of the Grant County Community Clinic, an all-volunteer health care & medical clinic for underserved communities. Diane was an LPN for 20 years serving Alzheimer’s patients in Upland, Indiana and in Indianapolis at the Broad Ripple and Hooverwood Nursing Homes.
Diane volunteered for the Grant County Cancer Society. She was part of the Buddy Program in Indianapolis for four years providing support to people living with AIDS. She was a member of the Riviera Club of Indianapolis for 20 years, serving on their Board of Directors for four years. Over the years she participated in many peaceful protests supporting Civil Rights and protesting cruelty to animals. Diane was a classic film buff and leaves her family and friends with the toast from Casablanca: “Here’s looking at you, kid.”
She was married to Bobby Mumaugh in Portland in 1955. They had three daughters. He predeceased her in 1963. Later she married Donald Barnhart and had one son. Diane married her present husband William Kennaugh in 1968 and they had a daughter. Combining both families, they raised nine children.
Diane is survived by William Kennaugh, her husband of 55 years. She is also survived by her children: Debbie (Terry) Blair, Bonnie (Norm) Rabin, Lisa Mumaugh (George) Alexander, Lori Mumaugh Kay, Steve Kennaugh, Libby Mumaugh, Geoff (Angie) Kennaugh, Tony Barnhart (Brad Gooch) and Jennifer Kennaugh. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her four sisters: Joy Arn Harmon, Gene Arn Robbins, Jackie Arn Hunter and Pat Arn Miller.
