Diane Elizabeth Spaulding

Diane passed away peacefully on August 28, 2026. She was born in the "Region", graduated from Griffith High School and I.U. Northwest. Upon graduation, she worked as the alumni director of the I.U. Alumni Association of the Northwest campus.

In 1980, Diane married Doug Spaulding and moved to Indianapolis where she worked for the State of Indiana. She was ultimately in charge of entering the travel rules and requests for the state employees. Due to her effort, she was named a Sagamore of the Wabash by Governor Robert Orr.

Following her retirement from the state, she concentrated on volunteer activities, forming a group named Hillcrest Guardian Angels. The group sent gift packages to our troops overseas.

Diane leaves behind her husband Doug of whom she shared 46 years of marriage with. Sisters Debbie (Randy) James, Maribeth (Dave) Sawtay and her brother John Holom, several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ted and Elisabeth Holom and her older brother, Ted (Margie) Holom.

Per Diane's wishes there will be no services but a Celebration of Life will be held at Hillcrest Country Club, 6098 Fallcreek Road, on Sunday October 4, 2026 from 2-5 pm.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the Indianapolis Zoo or the IU School of Dentistry.
