

65, of Indianapolis passed away on March 17, 2012. He was born on June 16, 1946 in Evansville, Indiana to Chester Ray and Evelyn Rose Gore Stephenson. He was a 1964 graduate of Cathedral High School where he enjoyed much success in baseball and football. Athletics was a big part of Donny’s life. He was invited to try out for the St. Louis Cardinals and the Pittsburgh Pirates but, instead, honorably served our Nation in the Navy during the Vietnam War, where he crossed the Equator and achieved the Ancient Order of the Deep certificate. He enjoyed an illustrious career playing baseball for the U.S. Navy and led his team to a championship defeating the Quantico Marines. Donny worked as a purchasing manager for Double D Press, National Graphics and MPS for the past 22 years. He also worked for National Starch and BF Beverage. He was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Donny loved coaching for the St. Joan of Arc basketball and football teams. He was an avid lover of golf and got the opportunity to play at St. Andrew’s in Scotland this past August. Donny is survived by his beloved wife of 44 years Leah L. Porzel Stephenson, children Leah (Erik) Roggeman and Michael Stephenson (Katie Kirkhoff), grandsons Scott and Luke Roggeman, sister Diane Moore, brothers David (Debby), Danny (Jani) and Dennis (Patti) Stephenson and 75 nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Wednesday, March 21, 2012, at 9:15 am at Feeney-Hornak Keystone Mortuary followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Visitation will be Tuesday, March 20, from 3 – 8 pm at the Mortuary. Burial will be at Our Lady of Peace Cemetery. Memorials may be made in Donny’s name to Immaculate Heart of Mary School, St Monica School, Cathedral High School or Bishop Chatard High School.
