

91, of Indianapolis died April 5, 2011 at Golden Living Brookview where she was a resident since March 2004.
Dorthy was born in a tent on logging camp on Christmas Day in 1919 in Pike County, IL to James Otis Dewey Anderson and Hazel Estelle (Lemon) Anderson. She graduated from Edinburg Illinois High School in 1938 and Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Springfield, Illinois, in 1942. She entered the United States Army as a Registered Nurse in 1943 and served in Devizes, England, until 1945 when she returned to the United States and was honorably discharged as a Second Lieutenant. She married Edmond Salvatore Talucci in Philadelphia in 1946.
Dorthy was a homemaker until after her husband’s death in 1964 when she returned to work at Community (East) Hospital until her retirement in 1986. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, travel, antiques, the theater and served as a volunteer for Lutherwood, The Kidney Foundation, The American Cancer Society and the American Heart Association.
Dorthy is survived by her sons, Edmond William and his partner Steven Ray Willis of Ferdinand, Indiana; Gary Torquato and his wife, Terry Lynn of North Plainfield, New Jersey; Donald Anthony and Robert Mario and his partner, Carri Will, all of Indianapolis.
She is also survived by her sisters Alice Viola DesCarpenter of Taylorville, Illinois, Pauline Pearle Hains of Kansas City, Kansas, and her brother Dwight Otis of Springfield, Illinois; her granddaughters, Nicole Renee of Andover Township, New Jersey, and Christina Marie currently of Bloomington, Indiana; and 18 nieces and nephews.
Her brothers William Dewey and Maynard Walter and sisters Eugenia Blanche Cox, Colleen Merle Armintrout, and Betty Lavonne Sealock preceded her in death.
Dorthy will be buried next to her husband at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery. The family appreciates memorial contributions to the Alzheimer’s Association.
Visitation for Dorthy will be from 4 – 8 PM Friday, April 8th at Feeney-Hornak Shadeland Mortuary. A funeral service for her will be on Saturday, April 9th at 10:00 AM in the mortuary.
