Douglas Timothy Barry passed away on July 11th at Veterans Hospital. He was born on August 17, 1950 in Indianapolis to Oscar F Barry Jr and Virginia Barry, who both predeceased him.
For the past 16 years, Doug was very active in and eventually becoming Manager of the Carvel Club, an Alcoholics Anonymous facility, that Doug loved and was dedicated to. He had many dear friends active in the Carvel Club.
He entered into the Service of The United States Navy on Feb 07 1969, serving onboard 2 separate Naval Destroyers during the course of his Military Career. Through the course of his duty, Doug sailed the entire Western Coast of Africa. The destroyer that Doug served aboard also provided defensive assistance to several ships that were withdrawing from Cambodia in July of 1970. Doug was proud to serve his country and considered it one of the greatest learning experiences of his life.
He is survived by his best friend, Tom York, his sponsor at the Carvel Club, Rip Van Winkle, sisters and brothers Deanna McBride, Oscar F Barry III, Steve Barry, and Karen Barry.
