Earl Lee Griffin III

Mr. Earl Lee Griffin III was born June 14, 1946 in Indianapolis, Indiana to the late Earl Lee Griffin Jr. and Eunice (Dean) Griffin. He graduated from Arsenal Technical High School and then enlisted in the United States Army. During his service in the United States Army, from 1964-1971, he proudly served in the 82nd Airborne Division as a paratrooper. Over the years he held many jobs, including holding a CDL license driving semi-trucks. He even taught his mother how to drive using a stick-shift truck which embodies one of the many memories that reflected his patience and generosity. A true jack-of-alltrades, he worked throughout his life as an auto mechanic, carpenter, electrician, and plumber. Earl loved cowboys and western classics. He would sit and listen to Gunsmoke, Bonanza, and The Lone Ranger. Anything western. If there were a cowboy and a horse in the movie, he’s watching/ listening. Earl was also an avid fisherman, a passion he shared with his mother, and he cherished every moment spent with her and his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters: Ruby Jane Smith and Osa For, and two bothers: Walter and Tommie Griffin.

Earl leaves to cherish his memory with two sisters: Eloise Moore and Sylivia Girffin; three brothers: Curlee (Dee) Griffin, Kenneth Griffin, and Steven Griffin. Children: Earl Lee Griffin IV, Keysher McBryde, Dewayne Miller, Kenyada Griffin, Kimara Murff (Mark), Kevin Griffin, and Erltrese Griffin: host of grandchildren, host of nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held at Crown Hill Funeral Home, 700 W. 38th St., Indianapolis, IN 46208, US, on August 8, 2026, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm, followed by a Celebration of Life at Crown Hill Funeral Home, 700 W. 38th St., Indianapolis, IN 46208, US, on August 8, 2026, beginning at 12:00 pm.

Earl will be laid to rest at Crown Hill Cemetery, 700 W 38th St, Indianapolis.
