

Edith graduated from art school in Cincinnati and then lived in Memphis, Tennessee for a short while before moving to Indianapolis. Here she became a commercial artist for the Wasson Department Store.
Through mutual friends, the Harts, Edith met Hilden Lacey and they were married on May 14, 1948. They were married 47 years until the death of Hilden on July 17, 1995. Edith enjoyed her life as a full time mom. She found time to do volunteer work at the Indiana School for the Blind, take Bible Fellowship Studies, and was a docent for the Indianapolis Museum of Art. She loved travel, swimming, gardening, and art. She was a member of Meridian Street Methodist Church and later became a member of Second Presbyterian Church.
At the age of 94, Edith passed away Friday, March 15, 2013, at 6:48 a.m. She is survived by her daughter, Debbie Matthews, living in the Dallas/Ft. Worth, Texas area, grandson Christopher, also in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area, and granddaughter, Kim, a missionary in Thailand, her son Arthur Lacey, living in the Indianapolis area along with her three grandsons, Trevor, Grant, and Will.
