Edward was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. He worked at Englewood Hospital where he met his lovely wife Dianne, until he moved to Indiana, then he started working at Nish Hospital for over 15 years. He worked for 15 years at the Roudebush VA medical center as well. Edward gave his life to Christ in 1994 to the Church of Christ.
Edward was proceeded in death by his parents: Rober Akins Sr. and Mary Anna Dickerson, Doris (Akins) Davidson, Leroy Akins, Robert Akins Jr. and Virgie (Akins) Gibson, his siblings Levon (Charleszetta) Roosevelt (Louann), Albert (Helen), Jermell, Joyce, Charles, and Wandella.
He leaves behind a legacy and will be remembered by wife Carolyn Akins, two children Timothy (Candy) Akins Sr., Angelique (Jason) Akins, James Mosby, grandchildren Kyara, Maurice, Alicia, Daea, Nia, Timothy Jr., Zion, Ayden, and Brayden, great grandchildren Riley and Skylar, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He loved singing around the house, playing his albums on his stereo. If you knew him you knew who he was playing in heavy rotation. As Edward would say, “There is only one Queen, and that is Ms. Aretha Franklin, Queen of Soul.”
One thing about Eddie, is he knew the Lord and loved the Lord. He was never afraid to speak his mind. He meant what he said, and said what he meant. He was very much loved. We have a very strong family bond, we will miss him so much.
