

86, of Indianapolis, died February 28, 2016. He was born February 20, 1930 in Indianapolis to Edward Henry and Mary Agnes Lavell Hegarty. He served in the U.S. Navy as Radioman First Class during the Korean War. Known to countless Lawrence Township students as Señor Hegarty, he enjoyed his career as a Spanish teacher for 30 years. He was a licensed real estate broker, a member of Christ the King Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, and Toastmasters. Edward is survived by his beloved wife of 41 years, Mary Jennings Hegarty, daughters Laura (Jerry) Robert, Janmarie (Robert) Connor, twin sisters Rita O’Connor and Agnes Lux (deceased) and sisters Rosemary Adamson, Margie Miller, Nancy Condon, Maureen Schulz, grandchildren Nathan (Sadie) Connor, Aidan Connor, Adrienne (Chad TenBarge) Robert, Sean Robert, Joseph Robert, Paula Rose Robert, great granddaughter Harlow TenBarge. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Paula Iris Peña Hegarty of Peru, SA. Funeral services will be Saturday March 5 at 10 am at Feeney-Hornak Keystone Mortuary followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am at Christ the King Catholic Church. Visitation will be Friday March 4 from 4 – 8 pm at the mortuary. Entombment will be at Calvary Cemetery. Memorials in Edward’s name may be made to St. Meinrad.
