Eleanor "Ellie" Selle Stanley

Eleanor "Ellie" Selle Stanley, age 88, of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away on Sunday, January 26, 2025. Ellie was born in South Bend, Indiana on July 4, 1936 to Rev. Robert M. and Carrie Emma (Cox) Selle. She graduated from Lafayette Jefferson High School. After high school, Ellie attended Depauw University where she obtained her Bachelor's Degree. Ellie married Jerry Stanley on November 12, 1960.

Ellie was a fun stay at home mom. She loved photography and playing the violin. Ellie was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir and played handbells. She supported the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra and Dance Kaleidoscope. Ellie was an animal lover. She enjoyed watching her two grandsons perform with the Purdue Varsity Glee Club.

Ellie is survived by her children, Jill (Paul) Griffin and Janene (Keith) Hanauer; grandchildren, Matthew (Mercedes) and Sean (Melissa) Hanauer; great grandchildren, Luke, Casper, Walter and Birdie Hanauer; and sister, Joann Hoadley Myers. Ellie was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Stanley; parents, Rev. Robert M. Selle and Carrie Emma Selle; and brother, Robert A. Selle; and her dogs, Penny and Buddy.

A visitation for Ellie will be held on Sunday, February 2, 2025 from 2:00 PM until 5:00 PM at Feeney Hornak Keystone Mortuary, 2126 E. 71st St. Indianapolis, IN 46220. A memorial service will immediately follow at 5:00 PM.
