Eleanor Fay Woodley, 77 years of age, born in Chicago, IL and formally of Gary, IN, was called home on Thursday, March 26, 2020. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Ruby Young Coleman, brothers Joel and Michael Coleman.
Eleanor, affectionally known as Fay, was a graduate of Emerson High School, studied at Indiana University Northwest and Ivy Tech. Fay was employed with the State of Indiana for 30+ years as a Secretary / Transcriptionist.
Fay was a devoted Christian and mother. She came to Christ at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Gary, IN at the age of nine under the leadership of Pastor Robert B. Putnam. She was currently a faithful member of CrossBridge Baptist Church, Indianapolis, IN. She cared deeply about others. She had a passion for reading, crosswords, skating and had a good sense of humor.
She is survived by her loving children, Gina Woodley, Indianapolis, IN; Mona (Jeffrey) Byrom, Merrillville, IN; Terri (Floyd) Payne, Chicago Heights, IL; Felecia Jones, Indianapolis, IN; Kevin (RaNada) Woodley, Bonaire, GA; and Dawn Rodgers, Los Angeles, CA; her siblings, Thomas Jr. (Maxine-dec) Coleman, Gary, IN; Charles (Johnnie) Coleman, Queens, NY; and Rhonda (Wilbur) Catlin, Gary, IN; grandchildren, Trenice Woodley Brown, Troy Payne, Nakia Woodley, Taijamia Stevens and Tyanna Woodley; great-grandchildren, Jaydah Cobb; Asia and Portia Brown; long-time friend Rosalyn Kennedy; along with a host of family and friends.
