

80, of Indianapolis passed away on December 23, 2013. She was born on February 19, 1933 in Mace, Indiana to Clayton and Margaret Brennan Eyler. She worked for Allstate Insurance with customer service claims for 20 years, retiring in 1990. Betty was an elected official for the Indianapolis City County Council for 18 years, Republican Party precinct councilperson, and a vice ward and ward chairman for over 50 years. She was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church where she volunteered for friendship meals. She was also a member of Knights of Columbus Silvertones, American Legion Auxiliary, Moose Auxiliary, and Red Hat Ladies Society. She volunteered at St. Vincent DePaul food pantry. She is preceded in death by her husband Richard Ruhmkorff, her sisters Donna Clark and Carolyn Henderson. Betty is survived by her daughter Mary Stewart, sisters Margaret McCafferty, Sister Rosemary Eyler, brother Thomas Eyler, grandchildren Alex, Anthony, Elizabeth and Emily, 13 step children and several step grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday December 27 at 1 pm at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, with visitation from 10 am until service time at the church. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers, memorials in Elizabeth’s name may be made to Holy Spirit Catholic Church or Gibault School for Boys. Services entrusted to Feeney-Hornak Shadeland Mortuary.
