
Emma was born August 17, 1964 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, to Juanita Hargrave and Robert Lee Prestly. She was a nurse over 26 years in the Michiana area, doing what she loved, helping and nurturing people. Prior to her illness, she worked for Heartland Hospice. Emma enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Specifically, Emma enjoyed the time spent with her grandchildren. One of her favorite activities include cooking for the soup kitchen weekly at her church, which provided countless meals to the less fortunate.
Emma Jean is survived by her husband, Johnny Roberson; children: Allan (Jennifer) Prestly, Catrinka Prestly, Cassandra Douglas and Cami (Justin) Mills. Extended children Jennifer Hill, Sheleita Dawson, Tamethia Hill and Michelle Roberson. 4 sisters, Cynthia Prestly, Shirley "Tiny" Prestly, Tanya Bowie and Earnestine Preastly; 4 brothers, Robert Prestly Jr., Clyde (Cathy) Prestly, Earl (Yolanda) Prestly and Ray Prestly; 7 grandchildren (Alexis, Brianne, Joseph, Allan Jr., Samara, Issac and Carter) and 19 extended grandchildren; 3 sister in laws and 5 brother in laws. Emma had 5 honorary children, Mia Lee, Ebone Shane, Sharvon Herron-Robinson, Dominique (Ryan) Williams and Dominique Anderson. Emma is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews (Robin, Autumn, Robert Jr., Quasha, Rochelle, Chanita, Marquisha, Shakara, Shaniece, Jenee, Terry Jr., Jaren, Kelsey, Shalaqua, Austin, Brittany, Anthony, Tyler, Nicholas), cousins, aunts and adopted children/grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her mother, Juanita Hargrave (nee' Prestly/Lee), father, Robert Lee Prestly, grandmothers Bertha Gardner and Helen Lee, grandfather Earl Lee Sr., father in law Eugene Roberson Jr., mother in law Ida Mae Roberson, one son in law Joshua Giden, 3 brother in laws Allan Bogard, Philip Bogard and Johnny Mitchell.
A memorial service is scheduled at 11:00am on November 30, 2018, at Saint Paul Bethel Missionary Baptist Church (621 Lindsey St., South Bend, Indiana 46616), with a reception to follow. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Emma's life. The family would like to thank the staff of Indiana University, Simon Cancer Center 3rd floor for their support and dedication to Emma's care.
