Ernestine moved to Indianapolis after retiring in 1995 from the Department of Juvenile Corrections in Washington, D.C. She was preceded in death by her parents; 3 brothers, Ernest (twin), Robert and James Pe’ay, Jr. Surviving to celebrate her life are her daughters, Joni M. Boyd-Baker, Brigitt F. Johnson-Reaves, and Karen L. Meriwether; sons, Paul C. and Russell B. Pe’ay and Robin A. Freeman; sisters, Darnell Eldridge and LaQuita Northington; special nephew, Richard Eldridge; sons-in-law, David Boyd, Paul Baker and Vernon Reaves; daughter-in-law, Gwendolyn Freeman; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild.
