

EUGENE BONNER, affectionately known as Gene by his family and friends, was the second son of Napoleon and Rosa Lee Bonner, born November 16, 1950 in Meridian, Mississippi. Following elementary school at Elder W. Diggs School #42, he went on to attend Crispus Attucks High School and graduated in 1968.
After graduating, Gene's high mechanical aptitude from summer jobs became recognized thereafter affording him the opportunity to join the workforce at several companies like, Hebrew National Foods and N & R Welding. He also worked at a seat belt company and did trucking.
Gene accepted Christ at an early age while at St. John's Missionary Baptist church under the pastorage of Dr. Andrew J. Brown and later attended Mount Zion Baptist Church, Indianapolis, Indiana.
A compassionate man, he loved life and garnered many school and work friendships while also exhibiting a deep admiration for all.
On January 5, 2020, Gene went home to a place of eternal serenity, joy peace and happiness. Beautiful memories will forever linger in the hearts and minds of his beloved family. Preceding Gene in death are his parents, and son, Jason Stigger.
He leaves to cherish his memory: a daughter, Shanda King (Robert); a brother, Willie, also known as Junior; an aunt, Altha Mae Harris, Frisco, Tx; and uncle, Henry L. Fortney Sr., Memphis, TN; five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; his significant other, Louise Bonner and her children; Aretha Harris Townsel (Gregory), Johnny Lee Warren Jr, Aisha Warren Mathews (Demarthus), Brandon Hughes Mathews, Atlanta, GA; and a host of other relatives and friends. Hence here's to a life well lived and fearful of none but the Almighty God!
