Everette Lewis

After his parents moved to Indiana in pursuit of better economic opportunities during the Great Migration, Everette began grade school in Indianapolis and earned a professional barbering license. He also worked as a Chemical Technician at Sun Chemicals and later Superior Industrial Solutions, where he retired after 32 years of service.

While delivering newspapers on his local route, he met and began dating Deborah Boone. They later married on March 12, 1971. From their 55-year union came Garlando, Shanon, and Zenaida.

Everette will be remembered for his love of trucks, riding motorcycles, hunting, and bowling. He especially enjoyed working on cars, fixing and repairing household items and brought joy to those around with his many stories and advice.

He was a member of First Timothy Evangelical Lutheran Church, where his older brother Cleveland serves as pastor. During his membership, Everette served as Chairman of the Board of Trustees as well as being a member of the Finance Board. He organized the annual talent program where the church youth and members could share their talents and skills with the congregation.

Preceding him in death is his beloved siblings, Levi Jr., James, Helen, and Timothy.

Those remaining to cherish his memories are; his beloved wife; oldest son, Garlando Lewis (Camille); son Shanon Lewis (Coi Lanier); daughter, Zenaida Lewis; granddaughters, Genesis Bowers, Geydyn Bowers and Dream Lewis; two remaining brothers

and their wives, Cleveland (Betty) and Bertram (Cheryl-Ann) of Cleveland, Ohio; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Visitation will be held at Crown Hill Funeral Home, 700 W. 38th St., Indianapolis, IN 46208, on September 14, 2026, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. A Celebration of Life will be held at 12:00 pm.
