Frederick Richard Daries

He was born on October 29, 1946, in Ann Arbor, MI to the late Frederick and Virginia (Shew) Daries. As a young man, he delivered The Indianapolis Star and worked at Davis Grocery. After Rick was graduated from Broad Ripple High School in 1965, he attended Butler University and the University of Michigan where he received his B.S. in Natural Resources in 1969 with a major in forestry and a minor in outdoor recreation.

He served in the Air Force Reserves at Grissom AFB, 931st TAC Group as an Administrative Clerk from 1970-1976.

Rick married Carolyn Ward on June 16, 1972.

He worked in the turf and landscape industry for almost 40 years in various sales and managerial roles for Marvin J. Bareither & Associates, Warren’s Turf Nursery (changing over the years to Woerner Turf, Classic Turf, and Ameri-Turf), as well as BlueGrass Farms. He was very much a people person and enjoyed visiting with his customers.

Rick also served as Secretary/Treasurer of the University of Michigan Club of Indianapolis for 38 years. He loved everything transportation-related, especially trains, and often was teased by his family that he had maps in his head. He was a member of Presbyterian Church of the Lakes in Orlando, FL.

Rick was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Carolyn; he is survived by a daughter, Susan M. Daries, and a sister, Kim (Dan) Madden.

Private family services will be held. Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery.
