Garry Steven “Cubby” Cole, 68, of Indianapolis passed away December 13th, 2020. Garry was born May 20th, 1952 in Beech Grove, Indiana to the late John David and Frances J. (Sexton) Cole. He was a graduate of Arlington High School. In 1974 he started his career with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department where he served 40 years as a police officer until his retirement in 2014.
Cubby was a sports enthusiast and enjoyed watching sports of all kinds including football, basketball and baseball. From watching professionally, high school games and even little league games of family, he never missed a game.
Cubby was a history buff and enjoyed reading his ample history books. His “round table discussions” and this day in history text messages will be missed.
He enjoyed spending time at the horse tracks and casino and playing the Hoosier lottery. He enjoyed many trips with friends to Destin Florida. Cubby always said he would drive 2 hours in any direction for some good food and that he did, often taking friends as “guinea pigs” on trips to try new restaurants.
Garry is survived by his sister, Janet Schumann, nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins and so many friends that became family, last but not least his loyal dog, Remi.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date, around his birthday in May.
