Geneva Satchwill Turnage

Geneva (Jenny) Satchwill Turnage, 91, of Noblesville, Indiana, passed away on May 22, 2026. Indiana was always home to her, including Aurora, West Lafayette, Anderson, Kokomo, Indianapolis, Nashville, and her last home in Noblesville.

Jenny was born in Milan, Indiana, to Robert Langdon Negangard and Anna Marie Negangard on May 27, 1934. She graduated from Aurora High School in 1952. Next to her photo in her senior yearbook was this note: “If you hear someone laugh, look for me.”

Jenny married Edward H. Satchwill, whom she met during high school, on September 5, 1953, and raised four children, Ann Langdon Satchwill, Julie Marie Kern, Edward Henry Satchwill II, and Nancy Lyn Yasharoff. She began working as a library clerk for the Indianapolis Public Library after her children began attending school. She especially enjoyed her work on the Bookmobile and at the Nora Branch. She retired to Nashville, Indiana, to live in a log cabin in 1989, where she and Ed founded and ran a food pantry at their local Lutheran church for over a decade. Jenny lost Ed in 2002 to lung cancer.

Jenny married Gary F. Turnage on February 11, 2011, at Bethel Lutheran Church in Noblesville, Indiana. They were active together in their church and other civic organizations in Hamilton County, Indiana, and enjoyed traveling together to Florida and Tennessee.

Jenny is preceded in death by her first husband Edward H. Satchwill, her mother Anna Marie Diefenbach Negangard, her father Robert Langdon Negangard, and her sister Frieda Smith and husband Clayton E. (Smitty) Smith.

She is survived by her husband, Gary F. Turnage; her children Ann Satchwill and husband Bennett Caplan, Julie Kern and husband Ronald Kern, Edward H. Satchwill II and Claire Holdsworth, Nancy Yasharoff and husband Joseph Yasharoff; and her grandchildren Allison Caplan, Nathaniel Caplan, Sydney Satchwill and husband Timothy Hemphill, Edward H. Satchwill III and fiancée Ellen Brennan, Lucas Satchwill, Hannah Yasharoff, and Olivia Yasharoff.

Visitation will be from 12 pm to 1 pm on Thursday, June 4, at Crown Hill Gothic Chapel, located at Crown Hill Cemetery in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Funeral services will begin at 1pm on June 4 at Crown Hill Gothic Chapel with Pastor Douglas Gast, formerly of Bethel Lutheran Church, officiating. Burial will follow at Crown Hill Cemetery.

Memorials may be given in memory of Jenny Satchwill to the Indianapolis Public Library Foundation and Bethel Lutheran Church in Noblesville, Indiana.
