George Kyle
92, a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend, led a wonderful life and moved peacefully from this life's journey to final rest on July 19, 2018.
George shared love, kindness and friendship with all he met. He was a mirror of God's love in the world- an example of always making the best of any situation and thanking God for holding him close all along the way.
Born in Clinton, Indiana on September 9, 1925, to George and Phoebe Kyle, George completed high school and enrolled at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology. He left the university to serve in World War II in radio communications. After the war he resumed his education on the GI Bill, for which he was most grateful.
He met Betty Jane Moulton, who became his bride in 1949. They moved to Indianapolis to start their life together as he began his career as an Electrical Engineer with Indiana Bell. George and Betty Jane centered their lives and family in the church. They loved life, loved people and lived and shared a strong faith. They were active in Broadway United Methodist Church, Scottish Rite, Breakfast Optimist Club of Indianapolis, prayer groups, HEAL, Historical Society of Brown County, American Pianists Association, Lung Association, dance clubs and other organizations where they could enjoy life and make a difference for others.
After 35 years with Indiana Bell, early retirement opened the door for George's second career as a reflexologist. For the next 35 years, he brought improved health and healing to thousands of people, including Betty Jane, until her passing in 2000.
Remarried in 2003, George and Jean Jones Kyle shared 15 great years together. They remained together, holding hands sweetly all the way, even for his final year and a half in a healthcare setting.
George was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Betty Jane, and is survived by their daughters: Laura Sell Phipps (Todd), and twins, Leslie Luebcke Hannoy (Steve) and Lynn Kyle. Grandchildren: Sarah McAloon (TJ), Joel Luebcke (Meredith), and twins, Rachel Luebcke and Rebecca Luebcke. Great grandchildren: Kennedy Grace McAloon and Tyler George McAloon. His sister, Mary Mae Kyle of Clinton, Indiana, and his wife Jean Jones Kyle.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m., on Friday, July 27, 2018 at Crown Hill Funeral Home, with visitation from 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that any donations be made to Lampion Center, 655 S. Hebron Ave, Evansville, IN 47714.
