

Mrs. Geraldine Marie Boone was born February 8, 1930 to the union of Cynthia and Robert Burney in Clarksville, Tennessee. She was the second of five children. Geraldine was married to Garland Boone in 1948, for 30 years, and from this union came daughter Deborah (Lewis). On the morning of November 30, 2019 at 9:25am, the sweet spirit of our beloved sister, mother, and grandmother was free from sickness, pain, and death. She was 89 years old.
Geraldine attended Crispus Attucks High School in Indianapolis and was a majorette for both her junior and senior years. She graduated in 1947. She held positions at RCA and Western Electric for 20 years. She was also employed as a Pre-School teacher at Jones Tabernacle and KiddieLand Daycare for over 25 years. Geraldine also served as a Girl Scout Leader and the President of the 34 Street Neighborhood Association.
Geraldine loved the Lord and enjoyed serving in her church. She was a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church for over 70 years. While attending there, she served as an Usher, Sunday School Leader, and various other positions within the church.
Geraldine was a resident of Eagle Creek Health and Rehabilitation Center for 16 years. During that time, she often volunteered her services to the facility. She delivered mail to the residents, helped with games and activities, as well as setting up the annual holiday decorations.
She leaves four remaining loving sisters, Roberta Knox of Bedford, Ohio, Catherine Jones of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Delores Larkin of Chicago, Illinois, and Gloria Washington of Jacksonville, Florida. Preceding Geraldine in death was her beloved brother, James Edward Burney. Those remaining to cherish her memories are, her beloved daughter, Deborah and her husband Everette Lewis; Grandchildren, Garlando Lewis and wife Camille, Shanon Lewis, and Zenaida Lewis; Great-Grandchildren, Genesis Bowers, Geydyn Bowers and Dream Lewis; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
