Gloria Schnaiter Blake

of Indianapolis passed away June 5th 2016 at Allisonville Meadows. Born, April 17th 1928 in Martinsville, IN to the late Robert Duckworth Schnaiter and Frances Petro Schnaiter. She attended Martinsville H.S. and then went on to graduate from I.U. with a degree in education. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, son Todd, and brother Tom. Survived by daughter, Elizabeth Stiles, son Andrew (wife Rita), granddaughters Sarah Stiles and Mary Stiles, 4 great grandchildren, sister in-law Allene Schnaiter and her children Tom Schnaiter ( Linda), Janet Mery (Guy) and Bob Schnaiter.

At I.U. she was a member of sorority Delta Gamma, where she met and mentored many lifelong friends. She was a stay at home mom for 20 years then returned to education and taught elementary school 20 years at IPS. She was a lifelong member of the Children’s Museum Guild (pres. 1969-70) and the Indianapolis Day Nursery (pres. 1972).

She loved college and pro sports. Watching I.U. basketball or a Colts game at home with her was like you were in the stands. We would yell and cheer as if they all could hear us.
