Heidi was born in Johnson County to Cheryl Sechrest and William Burris on June 26, 1977. She married Chris Mescall on June 30, 2017 at Hope Center Indy. In their short time together, Heidi and Chris grew together and impacted the lives of many people through their ministry work.
Heidi graduated from IUPUI in 2012 and from New Palestine High School in 1996. Heidi had a passion for helping others, which was evident in her work at Hope Center Indy. She worked with and helped rehabilitate women and children who had been involved in sex trafficking and other abuses. She also worked to bring the center’s residents to Christ. Heidi played a large role in establishing CUPPA Hope, a not-for-profit coffee shop at the Hope Center, to raise money for the facility and teach the residents how to work.
Heidi was a devout Christian and her faith in Christ was immovable. She was a member of The Creek Church in Franklin Township, where she was baptised in 2016. She married her husband Chris on June 30, 2017.
Heidi’s two sons, Erik and Blake, were born in 1996 and 1999, respectively. She was a proud mother and worked tirelessly to raise them well and give them a good life after their fathers passed in 1999 and 2004, respectively.
Heidi’s final act of donating her viable organs illustrates her innate desire to help others.
Heidi is preceded in death by Jesse Cliburn, Dustin Benedict, William Burris, Nancy Burris, and Kathryn Sechrest.
Heidi is survived by her loving husband Chris Mescall, two sons Erik Cliburn and Blake Benedict, sister Lesley Burris (Mark) Noriega, brother James (Sara) Burris, mother Cheryl Sechrest, nephew Connor Burris, and niece Kaylee Burris.
