
Helen M. “Jackie” George, a former resident of Columbus, IN, and Tucson, AZ, passed away on June 9, 2011, at The Hearth at Stones Crossing in Greenwood, IN.Jackie married Frank C. George Sr. on January 19, 1943, in Seattle, Washington. He passed away on February 12, 2002. Jackie graduated from Tucson High School in 1938. After her husband’s retirement from the United States Navy, Jackie and Frank moved to Columbus where the lived with their family until Frank’s retirement from Cummins in 1975. They then moved to Tucson, AZ. While in Columbus, she was a member of Fairlawn Presbyterian Church and Epsilon Sigma Alpha Sorority of which she served as president. Jackie is survived by her children, Richard E. (Gay) George of Tucson, AZ, Carole M. (Allen) Wilhelm of Bogart, GA, Kenneth R. (Hedy) George of Columbus, IN, Frank C. (Karen) George Jr. of Columbus, IN, and Linda S. (Doug) Rogers of Greenwood, IN; 15 grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; one stepgreat-grandchild; and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Don Hudson; her sister, Patricia Kelly; and a great-grandchild. A private memorial service will be held at Little and Sons Funeral Home Stop 11 Chapel on Saturday, June 18, 2011, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the March of Dimes or to the donor’s choice of charities.
