

Helen Catherine Kite, 81, of Indianapolis, passed away on November 17, 2025. She was born on August 23, 1944, in Fort Wayne, Indiana to the late Bernard and Alma Stemen. Helen graduated from Central Catholic High School in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Helen worked at the Lincoln Museum in Fort Wayne after high school. She worked for Benedict Inn Retreat and Conference Center for many years before she retired. Helen was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church. She was a very devout and faithful Catholic prayer warrior and very active in the church community. Helen was also known as the “Monarch whisperer” because of her passion to save the Monarch butterfly population.
Helen is survived by her children, James Kite and Karen (Brian) Sensney; grandchildren, Sarah Kite, Matthew Kite and Autumn (Bryan) Coe; and sister, Mary Rose (Tony) Rorick. Helen was preceded in passing by her husband, Patrick Thomas Kite; parents, Bernard and Alma Stemen; and sister, Barbara Stemen.
A visitation for Helen will be held on Friday, December 5, 2025 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Feeney Hornak Shadeland Mortuary, 1307 N. Shadeland Ave. Indianapolis, IN 46219. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday, December 6, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 7243 E. 10th St. Indianapolis, IN 46219. Helen will be laid to rest at Marion National Cemetery.
