

Mr. Howard Woods was born on December 11, 1935, to Mamie Burks (Woods) and Howard Woods Sr. in Indianapolis, IN. He attended Indianapolis Public Schools and received a High School diploma from Arsenal Technical High School. He served in the Army from 1954-1957. He retired from the Post Office in his late 40s-early 50s. He worked at Douglas Golf Course. He accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior. He was a strong believer church is within.
Howard was a caring and loving father, son, nephew, grandfather, brother, cousin and friend. Those who knew him would say he is a great man. He enjoyed chilling, playing golf, laughing, karate, and getting
around in his clean Lincoln. He would chill at his house in his recliner watching movies, westerns, or sports and talking on the phone at times. He enjoyed outside activity which was golf. His golf partners and him
would travel around the city to play in tournaments. He took it far enough to start working at golf courses to continue his enjoyment of playing. He was a young man when he started karate. He was the man of
the family to get all the young kids in karate class. He took karate very serious; he became an 6 degree black belt instructor. He would attend almost any event if you ask him and sure enough he pulling up in his Lincoln. He was always into Lincolns and that is the only car he has ever owned. He loved to eat his favorites any chance he got: fried perch and fries, chocolate cake with chocolate icing, collard greens and cornbread, chili, and homemade sweet potato pie. As you can tell he was a man with great wisdom, a jokester and well loved by all his family and friends.
Howard leaves to cherish his memory his daughters, Marnita Woods and Malenna Woods; step-son Domminic Blunt; grandchildren, Markeiss Armstrong, Demarias Matthews, Demarcus Matthews (Aisha), Anavrin Reeves-Woods, Zakariah Reeves-Woods, Lillian Reeves-Woods, Jayden Williamson, D’Amari Washington, and Da’Naria Washington; greatgrandchildren, Savannah Matthews, Demarcus Matthews Jr., Phoenix Matthews, Ah’Leyia Matthews and Gabe Jr.; sisters, Joan Tompson (Thomas), Geraldine Sanders, Melinda Kudjoe, Betty Parker, Kathy Woods and Pauline Woods; brother, Howard Woods; sisters-in-law, Lora Vann and Shirley Vann and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife Carolyn Woods, stepdaughter Melanie Highsaw, son-in-law Mario Landa and host of sisters,brothers, family, and friends.
