

93, of Indianapolis. Died October 31, 2017. She was born July 26, 1924 in Norborne, Missouri to Aloysius and Honora Ellen McLaughlin Meinert. After growing up as a farm girl in a family with 8 children in Missouri, Isabella ventured to Indianapolis at the young age of 18 to work with her older sister during WWII. She met lifelong friends at the boarding house on 1010 Pennsylvania and was introduced to her future husband, Austin Mathias, as a result. Isabella was a loving wife and mother, taking care of her 6 children before becoming a reading tutor at St Phillip Neri and later with Indianapolis Public Schools. She was a member of Little Flower Catholic Church, where she was involved with the Ladies club and the Honor guard. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 42 years Austin Mathias, brothers Clarence, Aloysius and Donald Meinert. Isabella is survived by her children, Sandra (Dave) Greenwell, Wayne Mathias, Mark (Pam) Mathias, Linda (Jim) Stephens, Janet (Mike) Chadwick, Lisa (Rich) Sokolowski, sisters Marcella, Thelma, Ruth (Cletus), Ann (Pat), 12 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be Saturday, November 4, at 9:30 am at Feeney-Hornak Shadeland Mortuary with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am at Little Flower Catholic Church.
