

Jamari received his early education through the Indianapolis Pike School system and completed his high school education in 2025 in the Avon School district.
Jam AKA Mari was fortunate to enjoy many experiences in his young life. One of his proudest accomplishments was being selected to participate in the Junior Varsity and Varsity Football squads for the Avon High School Orioles. He was also overjoyed he was able to purchase his first vehicle. Jamari took a gap year after graduation and was preparing to pursue a career with the Fire Department.
Jamari also cherished many family moments and vacations in Magic Kingdom and Walt Disney World in Florida, Kentucky Kingdom, The Great Smokey Mountains, Lake Lanier Resort in Georgia, Indiana Beach and Brown County to name a few. He enjoyed many father son moments and special mother son moments. Jamari loved moments kicking it with his uncles and cousins, he also loved spending time with his big brother Freddie and bathroom love fights with his baby sister Keaira. He enjoyed watching the Indianapolis Colts and the Los Angeles Lakers.
Jamari relished making tacos, fajitas, and chocolate chip cookies for his family. He also enjoyed video games with his many cousins and friends. Jamari was very humble, encouraging, loving, and protective of everyone his life touched. He was a Lawn and Garden customer service associate at Lowe’s where he was employed for a year and a half.
Jamari was a member of Crossroads AME church and participated in the Young Peoples Division and choir from a young age.
Jamari is preceded in death by his Grandparents; Bettie Crayton and James McKenzie, special grandmothers-in-love, Minnie Barlow and Pankie Flowers, special cousin and aunt Tabria Collier and a host of other relatives and friends.
Jamari leaves to cherish his memory: Mother Lakesha Tarrance Fillmore (Larry), Father James McKenzie, Grandparents; Betty Jiles "Mamaw", Celia Collier, Rev. Mallory H. Tarrance (Nadine) and Sharon Andrews, sisters; Keaira, Tyon, Jayda, Jamese, and Ashanti, brothers; Freddie, James, Justin, and Tra’shawn. Aunts; Melanie Thompson (Kevin), Shanna White, Karon Lancaster (Greg), Maura Reed, Uncles; Corey Tarrance (Clanae), Ian Jiles, and Stacey White (Tracy).
Visitation will be held at Crossroads AME Church, 4602 N College Ave, Indianapolis, IN 46205, on June 27, 2026, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm. A Celebration of Life will take place at 12:00 pm.
