James W. Coleman

James W. Coleman was born on September 9, 1948, and passed away on January 5, 2026, at the age of 77. He was a resident of Indianapolis, Indiana. A man who “blazed his own trail” not big on particulars, pomp and circumstance so this public announcement is as is…if you know, then you know!

“Life is a continuing journey that is navigated by understanding that for every situation there is positive or negative consequences and one must be ready to endure either way the tide turns. Know who you are and allow no one to frame their concept of what you should be, learn indeed to “blaze your own trail.”

James is lovingly remembered and survived by his wife of 55 years, Barbara J. Coleman; his brother, Kenneth (Ruth) Finn; daughter, Yulanda Outlaw; daughter, Jenell (Johnathan) Burch; son, Jamane (Yasmenda Latonya Gray) Coleman; son, James Coleman; son, Lance (Erica) Coleman; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and many other extended family members. He was preceded in death by his parents, George E. and Fayrine Finn.

A simple man who lived a simple life… to all of whom I loved SAIL ON!

An inurnment private ceremony was held on Friday, January 16 at 10:00 am at Crown Hill Funeral Home & Cemetery.
