

James Patrick Dilts, “Pat”, 77, of Indianapolis, IN, died peacefully at home on November 17, 2023, with his family by his side. He was born in Lafayette, Indiana, on March 2, 1946. He was the second of six children born to William and Mayme Dilts.
Pat attended Central Catholic High School in Lafayette, IN. He joined the Air Force in 1964. He served his country in the Vietnam War and flew world wide missions.
Pat met the love of his life, Mary “Diane” Dilts in 1963 at Central Catholic High School in Lafayette, IN. Excited to start their new lives together, the two were married on July 23, 1966.
Pat was employed at Subaru of America (SIA) in Lafayette, IN for many years. He retired from SIA in 2011.
Pat and Diane couldn’t wait to start a family of their own, and their two boys Brian and Aaron meant the world to them.
Pat loved running marathons and riding his bike. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the VFW, and was an active member in the Catholic church.
Pat’s favorite role was that of Dad and Grandpa. He treasured his time with his grandkids and loved being their “Gramps”, never failing to be present for all their important life events.
Pat was preceded in death by his parents and his older brother Bill. He is survived by his wife Diane Dilts, his sons Brian (Sarah) and Aaron (Carey); his six grandchildren: Lewis, Leo, Sally, Willie, Elaine, and Thomas Dilts and siblings, Barbara (Joe) Dilts Inskeep, Sarah (Mike) Dilts-Howe, Mike (Suzanne) Dilts and Lynn (Earl) Dilts-Hill.
A memorial gathering for Pat will be held Saturday, November 25, 2023 from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 4100 E 56th St., Indianapolis, Indiana 46220. Following the memorial gathering will be a memorial mass at 11:00 AM at St Matthew Catholic Church, 4100 E 56th St, Indianapolis, Indiana 46220.
