Jim was an active member of Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 295 and VFW Post 261. He was a member of the Sons of the American Revolution. As a member of the Eastside Club of Indianapolis, he encouraged anyone and everyone with whom he spoke. He struggled for years with COPD, but his physical ailments never slowed him down, including in his roofing and guttering business. He was a friend to everyone he met. He is survived by his sons, James "Jim" Finney Jr. and Ryan Finney; brothers, Peter Finney and Steve Finney; sister in law, Margo Finney; and many cousins and nephews throughout the country.
