Obituary of James "Jt" Edward Trythall
James “JT” Trythall, born January 29, 1963, rode his Harley from this earth to Heaven’s gates on Saturday evening, March 19, 2022, surrounded in love by those he loved most. A highly respected officer with IPD, then IMPD, for 29 years, and the Army National Guard before that, JT fiercely loved, served, and protected his family, friends, fellow brothers and sisters on the police force, and community with integrity, honesty, and cunning humor. JT had a strong moral compass and lived his life honoring that arrow. He was the first person to show up to help someone in need and the first one to pop off to someone he disagreed with, with some strong, off-color vocabulary. He spent his time outside of police work loving on his grandbabies, daughters, friends, and dogs; hunting deer; collecting and shooting guns; listening to 70’s & 80’s Rock music; drinking good bourbon; weightlifting like a beast; cycling – both bicycle and motorcycle; golfing; tending to his pristine yard (he was super proud of being awarded “Yard of the Month”); and pulling ruthless pranks on people who totally deserved it. He disagreed with the hypocrisy of organized religion, but had a deep, quiet love for God. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Ann (Keller) and Phillip James Trythall and is survived by his daughter Joy Frush and her children, Laith and Lenora Frush; daughter Mary Van Luchene and her husband Alek; sister Karen Newlin, her husband Dale, and her children Allison, Clay, and Christopher; and his baby dog, Belle. Visitation will be held at Crown Hill Funeral Home and Cemetery on Wednesday, March 30, 2022 at 1 p.m. with chapel services at 2 p.m., and burial to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to the Indianapolis Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #86 Scholarship Fund. Checks can be made directly to “FOP Lodge #86 Scholarship Committee” and mailed to 1525 Shelby Street, Indianapolis, IN 46203; or, a tribute gift to the Alzheimer’s Association.
