Jan was born in Greenville, Indiana, to Jack Eugene Sprigler and Elsie Marie Appell on July 3rd, 1961. She graduated from Floyd Central High School in 1979 after which she attended Bellarmine College, where she graduated with an A.S. in Radiologic Technology in 1981. She married Rick Thompson on April 20th, 1985 in Louisville, Kentucky. After college, Jan began a 20-year career as a CT/MRI Technologist where she worked until she was able to enjoy her true calling as a full-time Mother.
Jan found joy in life’s simplest moments, whether it was soaking up the sunshine, relaxing at the beach, tending to her garden, or preparing a home-cooked meal for those she loved. More than anything, Jan cherished time spent with family, especially her grandchildren, who held a special place in her heart and brought her immeasurable pride and joy.
She also treasured her friendships and the laughter and memories they shared. Whether it was playing cards with her beloved “Euchre Babes”, putting her knowledge to the test during weekly trivia nights, or her much-anticipated monthly Girls Night Out gatherings, she embraced every opportunity to enjoy life and the company of good friends.
Above all, Jan had a heart for others. Caring for those around her came naturally, and she found genuine happiness in making sure the people she loved felt welcomed, comforted, and cared for. Her love, warmth, laughter, and kindness will live on in the countless lives she touched.
Jan is preceded in death by her Father, Jack Sprigler, and Mother, Elsie Appell.
