Jane Ann Buchanan

Jane was born July 16,1937 to the late Leroy C. Reebs and the late Ethel Zahrndt Reebs at St. James Hospital in Chicago Heights IL. The family moved to Washington IN, in 1940. She attended Southside Elementary. When the war was over the family moved to Michigan City IN.

Jane belonged to Rainbow Girls at 13 and was an active member until she was 21 when she received her final degree.

After graduating high school, Jane went to Ball State Teachers College. she was active in the Presbyterian Church and belonged to Sigma Kappa Sorority. After graduating in 1959 while teaching she continued her education and received her Masters degree at Butler University in 1965 and later her certificate in Special Education. She taught Special Ed until retirement. She married the late James Frederick Buchanan. This union was blessed with one son Jonathan Buchanan who precedes her in death.

She joined Ladies Oriental Shrine and attained the office of High Priestess. She was also a member of the Daughters of the Nile, Doll Circle, Hoosier Doll Collectors and the National Association of Miniatures Enthusiast. She volunteered at the Indiana State museum for over 25 years where she loved being Mrs. Santa Claus. Jane was voted volunteer of the year and was nominated for The Rose Award.

Surviving are her brother in law Don Sarver and Niece Kelly Esterman and many friends.

Visitation will be held Saturday December 17, 2022 at the First Congregational Church, 7171 N Pennsylvania St. Indianapolis, IN 46240 from 1-3pm. With services at 3pm. Burial will take place Monday December 19, 2022 at Greenwood Cemetery in Michigan City Indiana.
