Obituary of Janice Darlene Newbold
Janice Darlene Newbold, born April, 1942, to Jack & Iona Hall in Lafayette, Indiana, passed peacefully with family by her side at Copper Trace Rehab Center in Indianapolis, Indiana, on May 31st, 2023. A gifted artist, loving spouse, and wonderful mother and grandmother, Janice’s commitment and love for family will remain her legacy. Janice attended Lafayette Jefferson High School followed by Porter Business College in Indianapolis where she and Mark met on a water skiing weekend on Cataract Lake. The two shared their lives as members of Christ The King Parish where each of their children attended. Janice applied her artistic talents early by teaching art class to students at St. Joan of Arc elementary school, volunteering to decorate Christ The King church for holidays, and creating amazing scenery as a member of the Christ The King drama club. She finished her career designing stained glass windows for Fox’s Stained Glass in Broad Ripple and utilizing her business degree at California Closets. Janice’s hobbies were many and included crocheting, needlepoint, stained glass window making, card and game playing, fishing at Toad Lake in MN, and helping her children with multiple grade school projects. She loved to golf and even took up skiing at age 50. Her most notable hobby in retirement was jewelry making. Janice’s beaded bracelets and necklaces will continue to be worn and admired by many. Although Janice enjoyed many things, there was nothing more important to her than family. Janice was truly happiest when spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-granddaughter, family, extended family, and friends. There was never an event too far away or inconvenient for Janice to attend if it involved family or friends. She was there with a smile on her face, a hug for everyone, and a genuine interest in everything and will be missed immensely. Janice is survived by her loving husband Mark Newbold of 58 years, her son Mark Newbold (Emily Garrett) and daughter Debbie Borgmann (Tom), grandchildren Michael Borgmann (Kate Marschman), Katie Caskey (Danny), Samantha Borgmann (Martin Späth), great granddaughter Murphy Helen Caskey, loving brother James Hall (Janelle), nieces Jenna Hall, Beth Hall, Julia Hall McMahon, and nephews Brad Hall and Jack Hall. She was preceded in death by her son John Newbold, and brother Jack Hall (Gloria). Janice’s family would like to request any donations in her memory be directed to Christ The King Catholic Church or Catholic Youth Organization (CYO). A Mass of Christian Burial for Janice will be held at Christ The King Catholic Church, 5884 Crittenden Avenue, Indianapolis, IN, at 12:30pm on Friday, June 9th, 2023, with visitation beginning at 10:30am. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Feeney Hornak Keystone Mortuary.
