Jean Lyot Bernard, 80, Indianapolis, passed away January 17, 2014. Jean was the true patriarch of the family. The thing that most will remember about Jean is his gift of speech; he would speak at all the family functions and even at the functions of his children’s friends. Jean also loved singing in church; his honor was given to God through his voice. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gerta Bernard and his son Jean-Robert. He leaves to cherish his legacy, son, Jean-Arly Bernard and his wife Marie, daughters Muirelle Bernard, Jianie Lilia Bernard, Julie Gerta Bernard-LaPlanche and her husband Stanley, JoAnn Mary Bernard: 8 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
Services will be held Friday, January 31, 2014 at 1:00 PM in the Crown Hill Funeral Home, 700 West 38th Street, with visitation there from 11:00 AM â€" 1:00 PM.
