Jeanette Frances (Flynn) Brosius, 86, passed away Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at Robin Run Healthcare Center in Indianapolis, Indiana. Jeannie, as many called her, was born in Indianapolis June, 18, 1931 to John W. and Clara (Endress) Flynn. She was the youngest of five children and had ten children of her own with her husband. Jeannie worked as administrative assistant for Nonferrous Products, Inc. over 20 years after retiring from there she worked full time with Bank One Corporation and part-time with Kohl’s Department store for over ten years. She thoroughly enjoyed her job with the bank and always wanted to do more within that field. Over the earlier years Jeannie had worked numerous other jobs, including waitressing, customer service desk operating, and putting bouquets of flowers together in order to provide for her family.
As a young woman Jeannie enjoyed going with her close friends to support the local USO. Throughout her life she enjoyed Big Band, Jazz, Irish and Church music. She loved to dance and was known by her friends and family to be a great dancer and to get on the dance floor first in order to get the wedding parties and birthday celebrations started. Jeannie became an usher for the church that she had attended for over 20 years in order to continue serving the community while also serving God. Her spiritual life was very important to her and she reminded others that if it wasn’t for her belief in God and her Catholic upbringing she wouldn’t have been able to get through all of the challenges she had to overcome over the years.
Jeannie loved being a grandmother and enjoyed trying to play, cook and host her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren for all holidays and special occasions. She always wanted to make those days special for people. She took pride in ensuring good memories were made. She also “adopted” other families in her neighborhood by always having a fresh cup of coffee for the adults and providing her shoulder to lean on or just for a good laugh, and she ensured she had fresh baked cookies for the kids. Along with being so loving to her neighbors, she was often recognized for her beautiful flower garden in both her front and back yards. Jeannie took great pride and gardening daily was a favorite pastime of hers.
Eventually Jeannie moved to the Robin Run Community and, of course, began to win the hearts of many. She was the neighbor that was always looking out for others and she loved to keep staff filled with laughter. It has been stated many times that “Ms. Brosius always said “thank you” and made us smile.” She volunteered in the healthcare department in their participation to support the troops by putting care packages together with other residents to send to military members across the world. She touched many hearts in the community by being loving, funny, and a tad of a flirt. She loved many people there and many felt the same about her.
Jeanette was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Ann; and brothers, Jack, Will, and Bob. She is survived by her ten children, Leanne Brosius, Karen Brosius, Mark Brosius, Donna Brosius, Rose Brosius, Bruce Brosius (Rachel), Paul Brosius, Bill Brosius, Mike “JJ” Brosius (Sharon), and Christine Brosius; and over 25 grandchildren and great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and loved ones.
Visitation will be 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm Friday, November 24, 2017 at Feeney-Hornak Keystone Mortuary, 2126 E 71st St., Indianapolis, IN 46220.
