Jerome J. Bixler

82, of Carmel, departed this life February 8, 2011. He was born December 16, 1928 in Indianapolis to Glen F. and Mary E. (Hurley) Bixler. Jerry was a real estate and insurance broker and owned The Jerry Bixler Agency until retiring in 1998. He was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church, St. Pius X Council of the Knights of Columbus and the Metropolitan Indianapolis Board of Realtors. Jerry proudly served his county in the United States Army during the Korean War, receiving the Purple Heart. He was a 1946 graduate of Cathedral High School and a graduate of Butler University. He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Emma Bixler; children, David J. Bixler and M. Catherine (James E.) Valentine; son-in-law, Fr. Kevin J. Morris; sister Regina Ziesler; brother, David E. Bixler; and grandchildren, Michael S. and Caitlyn C. Valentine. Jerry was preceded in death by his daughter Carol A. Morris; son, Michael J. Bixler; brothers, Raymond P. Bixler and Glen F. Bixler, Jr. and sisters, Dorothea Stambro and Mary Jo Thome. Visitation will be from 5 – 8 PM Friday, February 11th in Feeney-Hornak Keystone Mortuary. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 AM Saturday, February 12th in St. Pius X Catholic Church with visitation there one hour prior to Mass. Entombment Washington Park East Cemetery.
