Jerome M Hughs

KS. to the late Gay and Dorothy Hughs.

Jerry was raised in Bucklin, Kansas and graduated from Bucklin High School in 1957. After graduation, he served in the United States Navy as a corpsman. His next adventure was attending Kansas University, graduating in 1966. There he met Barbara Jean Miller and they married in Mission, Kansas on September 10, 1966. After college he worked for Aetna Insurance in Wichita, Kansas; Hartford, Connecticut and finally in Indianapolis, Indiana. By this time he and Barbara had three children and bought their first home. After many years with Aetna, he changed jobs and furthered his education by taking classes at Indiana University-Purdue University in Indianapolis. He retired from Indianapolis Motor Speedway Hotel after many years of service. In retirement, Jerry enjoyed trips home to Bucklin for hunting seasons and class reunions. He loved visiting with his brother, sister and mother, playing cards and dominos. He also loved reading, watching KU sports (especially basketball) and learning how to play guitar.

Jerome is survived by his children Gaye (Robert) McKain, Douglas Hughs, and Michael (Valerie) Hughs; grandchildren Katie and Christian McKain, and Liam Hughs; brother Willard Hughs and sister Charla Holman. He was preceded in death by his wife Barbara Jean Hughs.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday Oct. 10th at 4:00 PM at Family Funeral Care 5791 Rockville Rd. Indianapolis, In 46224, with visitation from 2:00 PM until time of service.
