Lee and Barbara, I send you my sympathy at this very difficult time-- the loss of your remarkable mother. Thank you for all the wonderful times my daughter has enjoyed with your family over the years. Joan Berg had a profound effect on my daughter, Wendy. She speaks so highly of all the good times that she and Scott have enjoyed with Joan and all the family at the lake. I count her life as a true blessing, in the way she positively effected those around her. Her energy, humor, strength, stability and faith have certainly been a light and life to others. She, indeed, was cherished and appreciated by my daughter. Apparently she was cherished by by all who knew and loved her. May God and your faith strengthen you, in this hour of loss. May you find comfort in knowing that she passed from this life leaving a positive impact on the lives of many others, and that her faith was displayed in her lifestyle and her love. That is the most that any of us could hope to attain in our pilgrim journey on this earth.

Grandma Berg was always an inspiration to me. I remember the way she welcomed Susan, Eric and I into the Berg family when Lee married Barb. It would have been easy for three young kids from a small, quiet family to be overwhelmed by the Berg clan, and Grandma recognized this and was immediately loving and accepting of us, making us feel right at home.
I also recall the way I would invariably find her in her kitchen at their lake cottage. Any time of day, which pretty well describes when we all would wander up from playing at the lake, she was always ready with something to eat and usually a story to tell.
In her later years she was the Grandmother that all my friends knew through the stories we all told about the incredible lady who, even at 93, swam the lake several times a week.
Grandma never sat still, never turned away a needy hand and, on any subject, always had something to say that was worth hearing. She set an example we all can benefit from.
I’m very sad that she won’t be here anymore, but happy to have been blessed when God brought our lives together.
She leaves behind a positive impact that we all will feel for the rest of our lives. In the end, what more could any of the rest us hope for?

I love you Grandma Berg
