Joann Louise Whitaker

Joann Louise Whitaker, 87, of Indianapolis, entered into eternal rest on March 17, 2023. She was born in Indianapolis, IN on March 30, 1935 to the late Clayton and Elvera Cecil. Joann loved being outdoors, traveling, and shopping. Her grandchildren and great grandchild meant the world to her and she loved them very much. Her 3 sons were also very dear to her heart. She retired from Edgewood Building Supply after 31 years. Joann was also a member of Grace Point Church in New Whiteland. She served in the nursery for 40 years at Villa Baptist Church and Emmanuel Baptist Church. Joann was a very strong willed person that was loved by many and will be greatly missed. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Cecil. She is survived by her husband, Kenneth Whitaker; children, Rick Whitaker, Mark Whitaker, and Eric (Michele) Whitaker; grandchildren, Danielle Rhinehart and Elizabeth “Libby” Whitaker; great grandchild, Chloe Rhinehart; and sister, Shirley Weddle. Visitation will be held on Monday, March 27, 2023 from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM with the Funeral Service to follow at 1:00 PM at Little & Sons Funeral Home – Indianapolis, 4901 E. Stop 11 Rd., Indianapolis, IN 46237. Burial will be held in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
