John Alfred Boucher

John Alfred Boucher, age 88, peacefully died at the age of 88, at his home on March 9, 2020. John was born on October 25, 1931 at St. Francis hospital in Beech Grove, IN to William and Mabel Stambaugh Boucher. John was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He was preceded in death by his wife Barbara Mason Boucher. John and Barbara were high school sweethearts. John was the loving caregiver for Barbara for many years before her death and through his actions demonstrated his love for wife and family. He is survived by his children Mary (Mark) Jones, Charles (Kathy) Boucher, and John M. Boucher, grandchildren; Christina, Carolyn, and Charlie Boucher (Megan), Patrick and Christopher Jones and great grandchildren; Will and Kate Boucher. John retired from Western Electric when the facility closed and in his retirement worked at The Links Golf Club, where he regularly played golf with his golf buddies. He was a proud graduate of Cathedral High School, Class of 1950. He was passionate about Cathedral Football. He enjoyed playing when he was a student, and loved watching his sons and grandsons in Irish uniforms as well. On football Friday nights, you could usually find him sitting on the 50-yard line waiting for the game watching warm ups! When he was no longer able to attend in person, he listened to each game on the radio or watched by livestream. John was a long time CYO volunteer sports coach. He started coaching when his children were toddlers and continued to coach when his children were in high school. He coached football, basketball, and track and refinished the Holy Spirit Gym floor many times! Visitation for John will be held Saturday, March 14, 2020 from 9:30AM-11:00AM at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 7243 E 10th St, Indianapolis, IN 46219. A Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00AM will follow. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, Indianapolis, Indiana. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in John’s name to Cathedral High School or Holy Spirit Catholic Church.
