John R. Dagon

68, of Indianapolis, departed this life Friday, July 20, 2012. He was born February 22, 1944 in Washington D.C. to John Richard and Frances Martha (Goris) Dagon, Sr. John was a graduate of Cathedral High School and then earned his Engineering Degree and Masters in Industrial Management from Purdue University. On January 28, 1967, he married Patricia J. Nichols in Indianapolis. Shortly thereafter, he began working for Eli Lilly and Co. where he would work for 28 years, retiring in 1994. He was a member of St. Matthew Catholic Church, APICS, The Lilly Motor Club and Phi Kappa Psi Fraternity. John was a lifelong golfer and supported youth through Junior Achievement of Central Indiana. John worked at Indianapolis Motor Speedway for 28 consecutive years during May for the Indy 500. He is survived by his wife, Patricia J. Dagon; son, Matthew (Meghan) Dagon; sister, Mary (Alan) Field and grandsons, Jacob and Leo Dagon. Visitation will be from 5 – 8 PM Monday, July 23rd in Feeney-Hornak Keystone Mortuary. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:00 AM Tuesday, July 24th at St. Matthew Catholic Church. Entombment follows at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to Cathedral High School or to St. Matthew Catholic Church.
