John Ransdell Snyder went to be with the Lord, Sunday, September 9. He was born April 13, 1924 in Columbus, Indiana to the parents of Nell and A.R. Snyder. He served in WWII as a Staff Sgt. with the Army Air Corps 379th. He flew 35 missions over Europe as a ball turret gunner on a B17. Upon discharge he married the love of his life, Betty Catherine Buxton, Columbus, who preceded him in death in 2002. They spent 57 years of amazing love and devotion to each other.
John was employed by Cummins Mid States Power Inc, Indianapolis, as Vice President and General Manager for 40 years. He was a faithful member of One Christian Church, formerly Southport Baptist Church, for 66 years where he served in many capacities including Deacon, Trustee, and Moderator. He loved spending time outdoors, fishing, shooting, building models, woodworking, spending time with family and anything with an engine especially a Cummins engine.
John is survived by his son, Ransdal A. Snyder (Jacqueline), Indianapolis, his daughters, Susan Cover (Lou), Indianapolis, Molly Williams (Gary), Indianapolis, and grandchildren, Hannah Cover Canterbury (Zach), Marah Cover, Garrison Williams and Gunnar Williams.
Services will be held at Little & Sons Colonial Chapel, 4901 E. Stop 11 Rd., Indianapolis with viewing on Thursday, September 13, from 4-7pm and a Celebration of Life on Friday, September 14, at 10:00am. A private burial service will be held Forest Lawn.
In lieu of flowers, a loving gift in memory of John, may be made to One Christian Church, 2901 E. Banta Rd., Indianapolis, IN 46227.
