John Selden Wilhite II

John was born August 16, 1937, to John Selden Wilhite, Sr. and Mamie Sue Sheridan (Wilhite), and grew up and lived in Indianapolis, IN. He went to Elementary School Number 26 and graduated from Arsenal Tech High School in 1955. He worked most of his career, over 30 years, at Pratt Poster Co. where he was the Shipping Manager. After retiring from Pratt Poster, he worked closely with his church Phillips Temple C.M.E. Church as a part-time employee and volunteer. He was an usher for Sunday services at Phillips Temple and drove the bus to make sure people could attend church services. He was an Army Veteran, avid traveler and sports enthusiast and loved to tell stories. He enjoyed bowling and fishing with his friends and family. He also enjoyed taking trips to the casino.

He is preceded in death by his father and mother and three of his siblings: Father John Selden Wilhite, Sr., Mother Mamie Sue Patton, brothers Michael Patton and Jessie Patton, sister Sonia Patton.

He is survived by his children, a brother and four grandchildren. Son John-Peter Selden Wilhite, daughter Sheila Wynne and her husband Antoine Wynne, Son David Echols and his wife Linda Echols, brother Juan Patton, and four grandchildren Andre Echols, David Echols, Malik Fisher and Shemar Fisher.

Funeral services will be held at Phillips Temple C.M.E. Church, 210 E. 34th Street, Indianapolis IN, on Friday September 27, 2024, 9-11 am for the viewing, 11 am service will begin. The burial will follow at Crown Hill Cemetery. Arrangements are being made by Crown Hill Funeral Home and Cemetery
