

He was educated in the Indianapolis Public School System, attending Public School 41 and Crispus Attucks High School. As young adult, he learned the skillset of laying carpet and general contracting work such as Plumbing and Home Renovations. His carpet laying expertise has been seen at one time or another all around the city, from the Simon Towers to apartment buildings all around town.
Johnny was full of life. He spent most of his downtime watching sports and the news. He wanted to always be informed about what was happening in the community. Johnny was a hardworking man and stayed busy with projects. Johnny was always willing to lend a helping hand and offer insight into how something should be done.
Johnny Ray Jordan Sr. departed this life on January 21, 2026. He was proceeded in death by his parents, James Jordan and Mrs. Lois Virginia Jordan, brothers, James E. Jordan Sr., Fred L. Jordan, and nephews Darronne Lolla and James E Jordan Jr. He leaves to cherish his memory, his son Johnny Ray Jr. (Deonah), grandchildren Antoine D. Jordan, Montana A. Morton, Johnnise R. Jordan, great grandchild, A’lysea Jordan. His life partner, Deborah L. Gray, and bonus children Brian, Brittany and Brandon Gray. Sisters, Mary E. Lolla, Helen Burton (Benge), Margaret Howard (Clark), brothers Roger L. Jordan (Renee), Charles Jordan (Wanda Todd) and a host of nephews and nieces and cousins and friends.
A visitation will be held at Crown Hill Funeral Home & Cemetery, located at 700 W. 38th St., Indianapolis, Indiana, 46208, in the Memorial Chapel on February 7, 2026, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm.
Following the visitation, a Celebration of Life will take place at the same venue in the Memorial Chapel, beginning at 1:00 pm on February 7, 2026.
