Joseph Anthony Karibo, 97, of Tierra Verde, Florida passed away on February 20, 2020 in his home, surrounded by his family. He was born on July 6, 1922 to Edmond and Regina Karibo, in Indianapolis, Indiana. Joseph is survived by his three children Joeann (Mark Tamulonis) Karibo, Jack (Jutta) Karibo, and Roberta (Jon) Bennett, three grandchildren Justin Hixon, Martha (Aaron) Schue, and Grace Bennett, and great-grandson Darcy Schue. Joseph was predeceased by beloved wife Betty, sister Eleanor Smith, brother Robert, and many other dear family members.
Joseph was especially proud of his military service in the Quartermaster Corps in WWII, and his 36 years with Eli Lilly and Co., which included a life-changing 2 years in Kobe, Japan, a lot of international travel, and 11 years at Eli Lilly Clinton Laboratories in Clinton, Indiana.
Joseph was known and loved for his deeply held principles, quick and dry wit, generous heart, ability to find a good party anywhere, and his lifelong love of boats and the open water. To all who have known Joe, words cannot convey how much he will be missed.
Visitation for Joseph will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m., Saturday, February 29, 2020 at Feeney-Hornak Keystone Mortuary, 2126 East 71st Street, Indianapolis, Indiana 46220. A committal service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, February 29, 2020 in the Main Chapel at Calvary Cemetery, 435 West Troy Avenue, Indianapolis, Indiana 46217.
